This research delves into blockchain adoption in the Malaysian construction supply chain, employing a qualitative research approach by conducting semi-structured interviews with six software engineers in Malaysia. Practitioners within the software engineering industry shared their perspectives on current awareness and initiatives, drivers, barriers, and strategies towards blockchain adoption in the construction supply chain. Content analysis was applied to extract meaningful insights and recurring themes from the interview transcripts. The respondents highlighted the low awareness and initiatives from the Malaysian construction industry on blockchain adoption in the construction supply chain. The findings identified 4 main drivers including fostering trust and collaboration, enhancing transparency, streamlining payment processes, and improving security and data integrity; 4 main barriers including complexity of the construction supply chain, integration of legacy systems; data privacy and security, and regulatory and legal barriers. Few strategies to encourage blockchain adoption were also outlined. This research contributes significantly to the growing knowledge on blockchain adoption in the construction supply chain, offering valuable qualitative insights for industry professionals, policymakers, and researchers.
